Due to an increased risk of the canine parvovirus in the Walsall area and on advice from our veterinary team, we have made the decision to postpone this Saturday’s open day event. Whilst we know how disappointing this will be to the many people who had planned to visit us on Saturday, we feel sure that you will understand that the health and well-being of our dogs and those of our supporters and visitors is paramount. Whilst we strongly encourage all dog owners to vaccinate their dogs, we cannot guarantee that all dogs attending the open day are up-to-date with their vaccinations and therefore bringing many dogs together would simply be an unacceptable risk.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a new date for the re-scheduled event but will update you as soon as we can.

Please read the advice below from our veterinary team at St.Georges Vets should you be worried about canine parvovirus.

Canine Parvovirus is a highly contagious disease.  It is an extremely hardy virus and can survive outside a dogs body for up to 12 months.  It is endemic in the environment.  All unvaccinated dogs are at risk of catching it from the environment, and puppies are especially susceptible.  This year we have seen an unprecedented number of cases.  The main signs to look out for are profuse vomiting and diarrhoea, often with blood in it.  If your dog is showing these signs or is not vaccinated we urge you to contact your vet at your earliest convenience - Stuart Cashmore BVETMED MRCVS

Will you be joining us for our fun filled Sunnyside Centre Open Day this year, on Saturday 18th August, as it is set to be another record breaking event?

Held at Sunnyside for over 14 years, this event sees over 1,700 people attend with exciting things to do for the whole family. Things to expect on the day are, Fun dog show, FREE children’s play area, shopping stalls, Bouncy Castle, BBQ, Refreshments, Fundraising Traier, Sweet Treat Stand, Tombola, Raffle and much much more.

The main attraction is our Fun Dog Show where our special guest, Niel Jackson from BBC Shropshire, hosts throughout the event and keeps everyone informed on the show schedule. A Fun Dog show for everyone, all different breeds and ages are welcome and rosettes are given to the top 6 in every class, although our judges find it extremely hard to choose between them all. It’s all about having fun and enjoying your day with your family.

This event helps raise much needed funds and awareness for our stray dogs, Sunnyside takes in over 1,500 stray dogs every year and your support is vital for them to continue their work in the local community.

The Fun Dog Show is kindly sponsored by our partnership vets, St. Georges Vets in Wolverhampton, who we work together with to help make this a fantastic event for you all. All Ancol dog items for sale at this event are kindly donated by Ancol Pet Products.
