When the new 12 sided £1 coin entered circulation in March 2017, with the old "round pound" being faded out after more than 30 years, it enabled Birmingham Dogs Home to launch the Pounds for Hounds Appeal. This appeal encouraged supporters to donate their old round pound coins to help raise vital funds for our homeless dogs.

Limited edition coin boards were launched for supporters to easily collect their old round pounds for us. These proved to be very popular, especially with the younger supporters, as you can see from the picture.

This campaign has raised over a mammoth £13,000 for our dogs over the past year, and we're still seeing some old pound coins rolling in slowly, which is amazing!

Thank you to everyone that donated their old round pound coins, and for helping us reach this wonderful total.
