With the current Coronavirus outbreak escalating, we would like to update you with what we at Birmingham Dogs Home are doing to try to ensure there is as little disruption to service as possible whilst ensuring we protect the well-being of our visitors and staff colleagues.

Anyone who has or lives with other people that have the following symptoms, is requested not to enter Birmingham Dogs Home:

  • a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back

  • a new, continuous cough – this means you've started coughing repeatedly

  • difficulty in breathing

Whilst visiting us we also ask that you help us to prevent the spread of infection by adhering to the following this NHS guidance:

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds

  • always wash your hands when you get home or into work

  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available

  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze

  • put used tissues in the bin immediately and wash your hands afterwards

  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

In addition to our normal cleaning and bio-security routines, the following additional measures have now been implemented:

  • NHS handwashing guidance posters are clearly displayed on the reception desk and in all toilet areas;

  • Sanitizing treatment of high volume contact points/surfaces such as door handles is being carried out on an hourly basis;

  • No handshaking or unnecessary contact is taking place.

     Thank you for your understanding and consideration
